Create your design using any word processor or design software. Set your document to landscape orientation for maximum width. Use high-contrast colors: white text on blue background, or blue text on white background work exceptionally well for Thunder themes.

Most home printers can’t handle large poster sizes, so we’ll use a tiling method. Divide your design into standard 8.5″ x 11″ sections with slight overlap for seamless assembly. Most word processors and design software have poster printing options that automatically create these tiles.

Print each section on heavy cardstock or photo paper for durability. Use the highest quality setting your printer allows. For color accuracy, ensure your printer has sufficient ink levels before starting the print job.

Layout your foam board on a flat surface. Arrange your printed sections in the correct order, ensuring proper alignment. Use the overlap areas to match text and graphics perfectly. This step requires patience but determines the professional appearance of your final sign.

Start from the center and work outward. Use a small amount of removable adhesive initially to test positioning. Once satisfied with alignment, apply permanent adhesive using smooth, even strokes to avoid air bubbles.

Apply clear laminate or wide packing tape over the entire surface to protect against moisture and handling. This step is crucial for outdoor events like parades where weather conditions can be unpredictable. Work systematically to avoid wrinkles and air bubbles.

For extra durability, consider applying a second layer of foam board to the back, creating a sandwich effect. This provides rigidity and prevents the sign from bending or warping during enthusiastic waving.
